Work Life Balance In Wales

Work Life Balance In Wales

Chwarae Teg are working in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government to take forward the Work-Life Balance Initiative in Wales.

"The Work-Life Balance Initiative complements the National Assembly's own core values of promoting social inclusion, equality of opportunity and economic development for the people of Wales - and this I welcome and applaud.

I believe that Work-Life Balance is a win/win situation. Flexible employment practices can help toward a more competitive and better economy and bring improved quality of life.

The Assembly is keen to work with partners in all sectors to drive the Work-Life Balance Initiative forward. I urge all employers to play their part in making Work-Life Balance a reality".

Jane Davidson AM
Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning

Work-life balance complements the Assembly's core values of promoting social inclusion, equality of opportunity and economic development for the people of Wales and assists in raising economic activity rates, helping us meet our employment and GDP targets.

A package of measures is being implemented by the Welsh Assembly Government including: maintaining this Work-Life Balance website for Welsh employers, employees and the general public; and supporting  a 3 year  pilot project providing support within targeted elements of the public sector in Wales, the evaluation of which was completed in September 2005. Due to the success of this project further development work is now being undertaken in Local Authorities, Corporate Organisations and Umbrella Voluntary Organisations as well as offering training and consultancy to other employers.
